Pop Song of the Year

Welcome to the KORBunist Manifesto.
This willl just be some random thoughts from KORB! read, respond, scoff. Its all good.

Every year i like to name the pop song of the year. It's a year long struggle of listening to the radio, watching the MTV, hearing the things they play in the background of Veronica Mars....
The criteria? Basically it has to be a stright pop song, in the pop song verse chorus, verse chorus form. It has to have been a top 100 hit. It has to have been released to radio in the current year. It has to have stuck in my head and not make me crazy every time I wake up with it swirling through my mind. It has to make me want to dance, somehow.
Some past winner include: "Toxic" by Britney Spears, "All the Things She Said" by Ta'tu, "Tubthumping" by Chumbawumba, and "Get the Party Started" by P!nk.
This year was a tough one. The runner-up "Signs" by Snoop Dogg and Justin Timberlake, which would have been the first single to feature the rapping to win the honor, was eventually eliminted because of its use of the "n" word, even though it is a ferocious, monster jam. The other contender and of course winner, is from a group I don't like, think are completely overrated, and have released some of the worst songs in recent memory.
This time around though, Destiny's Child killed me with the Pop Song of the Year, "Lose My Breath". An incredibly simple, catchy, dancy mish mash of silly harmonies, pat hip hop beats, and of course, the breathing sound, always a winner. No matter what I did to try and escape this song, it just kept creeping in, deeper and deeper, until I could no longer resist it and have given in to the musical goodness of this years winner, "Lose My Breath" by Destiny's Child! All hail Beyonce...even though I think Kelly is the pretty one.
